Why genderize?

Why genderize?

Gendering? Really now?

My Dear Colleagues*

Does that have to be the case? Do we also have to use gender in art? For whom and for what is that supposed to be good? Gendering is annoying and complicated.

On the other hand, we need renewal in many respects. Perhaps we can accept these bizarre gender experiments more easily if we see our language as an agile work of art. This collective work – our language – will never be truly complete. Because language stands for change. It is high time for change in many respects. So let’s change genders.

I know not everyone shares my enthusiasm. But anyone…

My thoughts are reflected in my work.
