As a photographer, I am impressed by the vibrancy and richness of detail in the printed version. As if viewed through a magnifying glass, the colorful, characterful, almost sculptural elements of the miniature collages become tangible.
The catalog makes the proximity to the work tangible – and at the same time awakens the desire to get to know the originals even more intensively.
Manfred, photographer
For her miniature collages, Magdalena Hohlweg collects trivial remnants wherever she goes and stands. The last questionable crumbs, picked up from sidewalks and forest paths, are elevated to art here. Precise alignment and fixation on watercolor paper as well as additions with fine line drawings create a panopticon of unique characters that are both irritating and fascinating as confusingly real-looking insects or tiny bird creatures.
The catalog is not intended as mere documentation, but as a statement for the magnificence of the smallest moment. On 29 pages, it brings together high-quality prints in high color fidelity and invites you to take a quiet stroll through the miniature collages. The DIN A5 format deliberately corresponds to the scale of the works.
