Magdalena Hohlweg always finds unexpected and surprising perspectives exactly where we all walk and stand every day - without taking a closer look.
She is enthusiastic about bringing trivial finds into unexpected new contexts. Magdalena's works focus on the most banal and everyday remnants of her works.
Minimal reinterpretation gives each fragment a significant place in the work. A small turn to the left or right and here and there an exact stroke with the fineliner are sufficient as a minimal design process for a new unique sculpture.

Biography
In the nineties, the autodidact started working on sculplics in free construction technology in her own ceramic studio.
In 2000, she gave up her artistic work with ceramics and ran her own computer store until 2007.
Finally, in 2008 she made a comeback in the art world with the unusual miniature collages. Since then, as a freelance artist, she has constantly developed new and surprising perspectives on the most trivial remnants and remnants of everyday life.
Her remarkable miniature collages of the [UN] apparent worlds have already been honoured several times with audience awards at various group exhibitions in Germany. In 2018, Magdalena Hohlweg was nominated for the Art Prize of the city of Fürstenwalde.
After 10 years of residence and successful work in Hamburg, the artist now lives and works in Bad Pyrmont, Weserbergland.
Her studio there with an attached exhibition can be visited by appointment.
It's fragile
Any originally inconsequential element becomes indispensable in the fragile habitats for tiny bird shapes or bizarre insects.
Inspired by scientific works, however, the miniature collages are not pure collections of objects, but fragile microcosms with a restrained message.
The most profane remnants are assigned an artistic potential by looking at them from a different perspective. A withered plant residue can unexpectedly acquire a complex character with self-confident charisma and convincing liveliness.
